Default Hatch Release Switch

The back hatch release switch kept firing off on its own, similar to Morse code. Now it doesn't work at all. Would this be a software thing or a bad switch? Thnx!

Did you ever figure this out? I am having issues with my 2010 and wondering if it might be the same.
