Default Magellan 1700

there is a post with lots of pictures in the forum of someone installing the magellan 1700 in the LR2 and hooking up power to the fuse box. I simply mounted an iPad instead. Good luck to you.

Isn't that screen used for other functions too though, if you don't have the Nav option? When you install the Magellan, wouldn't other features be lost? Sorry if I'm off base. I am considering purchasing an LR2 and from my test drive, I thought the other features were also presented on that 7 inch screen.

I am installing a nav and was going to use my F5 slot but it has a fuse in it. My manual shows this should be a blank slot. I have a 2010 LR2. Any ideas?

Default Cubby hole on non-Nav cars

Paulenki, the screen is only present on the cars with the Nav option, at least in the 2008 to 2012 year models. The cars like mine without the Nav option only have a cubby hole up there which, as someone else has mentioned, makes the interior look less than beautiful... We recently purchased an LR2 without the Nav option so I'm planning on installing the Magellan 1700 LM and a backup camera since the 1700 LM is one of the few that have the video input. I may have Best Buy run the cables for me and let me mount the GPS in the dash... We'll see how things go in the next few weeks. Has anyone figured out a way to change the start-up 'splash' screen on the Magellan? I would like to use the Land Rover emblem as the 'splash' screen...

Default Garmin 2797

Thanks to the entire thread for all the valuable information. I just installed a garmin nuvi 2797 (7") in our 2009 Land Rover LR2. It was a perfect fit and looks like it was factory installed! I spent just about 200.00. The only change i made was instead of epoxy to secure it I used velcro to secure L brackets on the back of the Garmin....then i used small metal screws to secure the brackets to the air vents. Now it can be removed it need be. Took about 30 minutes from start to finish! Also ran a pigtail from the usb input into the glove box for future updates. This thread saved me a lot of money!
