Yeah, that's light by definition. Now I just noticed your username, do you own or fly a BD5 as well? How is it?

I had three over the years, the first two were recip BD-5B's. One I built up to about the 30% stage, and is now a permanent vocational school teaching aid; one of the professors bought it for the school when I couldn't take it with me for a move. The second one had already flown. I restored it and last I heard it is flying in Spain. The last one was a BD-5J and I used it to get this:

https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/smallest-aircraft-jet-aircraft#:~:text=The%20smallest%20jet%20aircraft%2 0is,%2Fh%20(300%20mph)

I sold it some years ago to another Marine as crazy as I am but with more money. I am out of that world now. Just gliders, very occasionally. I restored a 1960's Italian 15 meter wingspan standard class sailplane. Took it to Germany, flew it there for a while (winch launches ROCK!) but now I am back in the US. I would love to be able to buy a live-aboard sailboat but I think now is not the time for that.

That's really cool, what with the cost of a family even the airlines don't pay me enough to have that kind of fun (especially in alternate covid reality ). I want to do sailplanes in retirement, or maybe when the kids are out of the house, got a buddy who owns a sailplane operation in SOCAL.

Do you carry a transponder?

Well, the idea was not fun but rather work, for the US military and NATO partners as part of a cruise missile surrogate program run by a friend of mine.

I have my sailplane for sale if you are interested.

Funny, a buddy of mine who works for General Atomics was asking me about surrogate cruise missiles the other day, I assumed citations, phenoms, eclipses or something like that. I guess a BD5 would be a closer fit.

Can't right now, gotta wait for the airline recall and then catch up on finances.

He was doing it for years as a prime contractor. Sold the company to the guy who was operating private Harrier jets. The Harriers are now for sale.

I'll take trades too, like an advanced ultralight, LSA, Class A/B/C RV. or ??
