Hi Nate. Car goes back in Monday. I was away in October for 10 days and the car was dead at the airport. Per another posting "dead battery" it may be a software issue.

this is a huge issue across LR2s from 2007 on. the class action suit has been in the news now as of August 2015.

Just google Landrover LR2 class action suit. I recommend all LR2 owners with the issue contact the firm that is listed in the news articles....personally I am tired of this. We cannot use our auto light setting, the sunroof does it. etc.

It just drains.....I had to jump ours again this morning after 2 nights without use.

Don't bother with landrover dealerships....they will just keep replacing the battery and you will keep paying for it....We have already replaced the battery once.

Attached is a copy of the complaint. Usually when these things happen the manufacturer is aware of the problem and knows the solution and it's just a matter of cost to implement the solution. In this case, it's not clear that LR has a solution. It sounds like a software glitch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't most of these issues fall under the Lemon Law? If I had a 2 I'd rather go that way and get something else.

Default Electrical meltdown stuck in crash mode

All the lights came on, and the LCD screen between the tach and the spedo gave a series of error messages - HDC Fault, System Resetting, etc. Then the LCD started acting really weird - it went blank, and then a single horizontal line appeared at the bottom and began to flash. The small LCD where the gear info is located had a big E where the gear numbers would normally be. Then the hazzard lights came on, but not as flashers, just solid on the dash. Outside the car, the wipers started making a slow, jerky motion as they gradually traveled up the windshield - funny, since they were not turned on. The outside turn signals weakly flashed in random patterns. Tried to get the key out, and it wouldn't come out. Then eveything went dead. Not even the overhead light would turn on! Grabbed my other key fob and used the emergency manual key to lock everything up, and I called roadside assistance this morning to have them come get the car. Looks like for all the supposed improvements in Land Rover quality with this new model, they are still using the same idiots to design and install the electrics as they always have.

Anyone have similar issues?
Hello I've never posted on a form before but I'm at a loss the same exact thing is happening to my 2012 Land Rover LR2 I haven't been able to start it for weeks and it seems to be stuck in this crash mode were you able to figure anything out?

You need to connect the car to a diagnostic system that understands LR2 modules and reset the vehicle from crash mode to normal mode. If you don't have the device to do this (something like an Autel AP200 or similar) then you need to take it to a mechanic who does, or to the dealer. Crash mode is set by the SRS (Seatbelt Restraint System) when it detects what it thinks is a vehicle crash. Resetting it should clear things up.

And if the battery is four years old or more, replace it. I can say for sure my 2011 is hard on batteries. I've learned it's best to just go ahead and replace the batteries at four year intervals to avoid issues.

That's what battery testers are for.
