Default LR2/Freelander 2 Chirping Noise from Engine

Hey guys, I'd like your input on something going on with my LR2 lately. As soon as I've been idling for a couple minutes, I've been hearing a sound that can only be described as birds chirping. The noise only seems to start after it's been idling for a couple minutes and its frequency doesn't seem to be affected by revving of the engine. It's a 2011 LR2/Freelander 2 with the 3.2L 6-cylinder gasoline engine. Thanks for any insights.

So, are you asking us to guess where the noise is coming from? You kidding? How about you tell us!

Yeah sorry the noise sounds like it’s coming from near the lower part of the engine bay where it looks like the accessory belt is running through if that makes sense. It’s considerably louder beneath the vehicle. My main question is, if it’s one of the pulley’s which specific pulley or tensioner would it likely be considering the time the noise happens? Or if anyone has had the same issue with their LR2/Freelander 2, was the problem something else entirely?

If it were me I would raise the front, remove the lower shield and start the car while looking to see where exactly that noise is coming from. I have never had that problem with my 2008. How many miles on the vehicle? Could be the belt is slipping due to wear, but that's just a guess.

Take a look at this thread and let us know if the sound is PCV related.

I don't believe it's that, judging from the video in that thread. It's more of a high pitched and more frequent noise. I'll see if I can't grab a video of it next time.

Alternator bearing? A clutch/pulley bearing?
