Default LR2 HSE - Homelink Mirror and GPS

I just ordered a 2008 LR2 HSE. I did not oder the navigation and I am curious what aftermarket GPS devices have been foound to work/fit in the place where the stock navigation scredn goes? Also, has anyone found a homelink mirror or other convenient way to add a garage door opener short of the actual transmitters that come with the garage doors. Thanks.

Default RE: LR2 HSE - Homelink Mirror and GPS

Re: aftermarket GPS systems...I've been looking into that same question. Based on the opening size, the screen of the Garmin Streetpilot 7200 will fit perfectly. It has a 7"diagonal touchscreen (a perfect fit for the opening BTW) but that assumes you take the outer shell off the unit to flush fit & back mount it into the opening.

You would also have to make some minor modifications to allow for power, sound, usb connectivity (firmware updates) and proper ambient light sensing, but if you're at all handy it could be done.

At about 1/3 the cost of the factory unit, I might give it a go in the spring.

Best of all, it shouldn't be a warranty voiding installation, as the unit will still be standalone, except for the power connection.
