Good day, l have just got a LR3 06 and now and again l get a noise like l have a flat tire (front driver side) its a thump sound like the car is going over holes in the road. It will go await when l stop a couple of times and wait. But it really sounds bad, yesterday l was going up a steep hill and turned right and it started again l stopped and put the LR3 up and down and the noise was away.
What would be causing this problem, l am really scared because it sounds like a gear problem because when it starts to thump and the noise is like a flat, but the LR3 still has all its power. Please help l would really appreciate it as l am new to this line.

Probably a wheel bearing by the sounds of it. Don't know how many miles you have on the clock or whether it has been replaced before - just replaced one of mine on my 07 @ 79K miles and the symptoms were similar. If you can jack up the front driver side wheel and grasp it at 12 and 6 o clock position and can rock it, with any degree of play it's pretty likely the bearing. The replacement is a whole hub which costs about $250 and about an hour labour.

 

Thanks l done that last week and no play or movement. The sound is like im going over speed bumps and the noise is coming from the driver side. But it will go away after a time

either tires are chopped or a loose drive axle.
