Default Oil filter access 2013 LR2

Hello - I would like to start changing my own oil on my 2013 LR2. I have about 47K on the vehicle. I purchased the proprietary oil and filter, I removed the panel under the engine and located the oil drain plug. I also located the oil filter - at the forward end of the engine above a thick hose. It is not even visible from the top of the engine, and it doesn't look like it would fit between the thick hose and frame. Does anybody have any experience they can share with this. Thank-You!

I have zero experience with 2013 and newer LR2s. If they are anything like 2008-2012 you'll need a 27mm socket to remove the oil filter housing cover, then remove the filter and gasket, and replace them with new ones. Then fit the cover back on. You do this after draining the oil from the sump and replacing the drain plug.

Pulling that oil filter housing out is a challenge on my 08. I make some room by lifting up the power steering fluid bottle off its bracket and moving it to the right side. Then removing the top screw holding the window washer fluid bottle and moving it to the left. Even with this additional wiggle room, it's a PITA.

On my next oil change, I'm going to try removing the headlamp assembly (actually quite easy) as that may allow me to reach straight in from the front instead of the top.

Why remove the entire housing? Even the Valvoline oil change people know how to just take out the cover and the filter. ??

Yep, I meant to say cover.

I prefer the older style spin-on filters.

I prefer German beer too, but it's pain to find it around here. 🤣🤣🤣

The cartridge filter isn't that bad, I bought the big socket and use a swivel and 1/2" extensions. Cover spins right off and back on.

Yes, you should move the PS res, it just slides out of it's bracket, no fasteners.

Be sure and remember to remove the old o-ring on the cover... it gets flattened and can be hard to see. If you miss it and put the new o-ring on top, it will leak, a lot. Ask me how I know.
