Greetings All, I have decided to start changing my own oil in my 2013 LR2, but getting the official Land Rover Oil is difficult and expensive. Can I safely use Mobile 1? Is there something else you would recommend? Or should I stay with the proprietary Land Rover Brand?

Mobil 1 (Mobile is in Alabama) 5W30 is good but make sure you get the type that complies with A5/B5 standard. That's on the back of the bottle. You can also use Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start 5W-30 A5, fully synthetic.

 

Many Thanks! I can't seem to find the Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start 5W-30 , fully synthetic with the A5/B5 rating, and the Mobil 1 product carries the A1/B1 rating. I noticed that Pennzoil Platinum is a full synthetic ( made from natural gas) in a 5w-30 that is A5/B5 rated. Would that be suitable?

Penzoil Platinum is a good oil as well. As long as you are meeting the oil spec, using a quality filter and using a responsible oil change interval you will be fine
