Default power steering fluid question

Hello, I have a 2012 LR2 HSE with about 57K miles. When I got my oil changed they said my power steering fluid was low. Can I use Pentosin 8403107 CHF 202? Can I just top it off or do I need to drain what's in there? The handbook didn't mention anything about this. Thank you for any advice!

I've always used Pentosin power steering fluid in my Land Rovers, BMWs, Jaguars and VW.
CHF 11S is preferred by Pentosin for cars that are 2005 and older. My Disco is a 2001.
CHF 202 is preferred by Pentosin for cars that are 2006 and newer.

Pentosin - Hydraulic Fluid

Great, thank you! And I don't have to dilute it or flush what's in there out or anything, correct?

Darla,

There have been other post about this.

A quick summary

- the reservoir has a filter screen in the bottom of this and it should be changed (you are at about the right mileage for this type of service)

- the fluid should also be changed out periodically (I would recommend between 60K and 100K miles, I changed mine at 100K and I should have done it at 60K)

- the two fluids that you listed will be fine, Pentosin's literature indicates that they are compatible and they can be mixed together. (Note: I used the 202 because its cheaper, if you live somewhere where it gets to -40 outside I think the 11S is a better choice, this wasn't a consideration for me)

- you should check the reservoir level to confirm the low level diagnosis, I didn't add any fluid to my LR2 for 100K miles, are you sure that you don't have a leak

- when you check the fluid level make sure that there are no bubbles in the fluid with engine running

Good Luck

Paul
