Default Seat Upholstery repair

While sitting in the driver's seat, I happened to put my hand on the front edge of the seat and could feel multiple tears in the fabric. It's not something you would normally see from inside the car, so I have no idea how long it's been this way. I moved the seat back to take a better look and sure enough there are stress tears where the leather attaches to the bottom of the seat. No doubt from getting in and out of the seat for a dozen+ years. I checked the passenger side and found the same problem, but to a lesser degree than the driver's side.

I purchased a cut-to-size adhesive repair patch on Amazon (Numola Leather Repair Patch) in a similar color. Simple peel and stick. It's adhering well and time will tell if it starts to fall off.

Attached are photos of the passenger side seat before the patch was applied, and the driver's seat after the patch was applied. (My seats are the same color but the poor lighting makes them look different). Normally, you can't see the patch in this hidden portion of the seat, but I know it's there holding the fabric together

You might want to check your own seats. Better to catch it early before the tears expand!

Yes, it stops the bleeding/tearing. But you can't see it unless you stick your head down in the footwell.

Sure, if someone is not looking for it, but you will always know it's there. It'll be reminding you of that in an annoying, squeaky voice until you paint it something.

Some OCD is good!!!
EDIT: My interior is black leather; only the D/S seat has a cut about 1 1/2" long on the door side, middle. The cut is totally straight and totally clean. I bought the vehicle that way. I was going to patch but chose instead to use liquid electrical tape. Works great and that area gets stretched every time you enter and leave the vehicle. I basically filled the crevasse while sitting on it, let it dry and it works great. If I need to touch it up, I just get the can/bottle.

Oh yes, the side of the seat facing the driver's door has been a pain point for me. It got stained from my blue jeans and had stress tears as well. I posted about this many years ago:

You are fortunate to have black seats as it's a lot easier to fix/hide these types of problems. Light colored seats show everything.

I know the feeling. I just turned down a potential trade of a 1996 Saab 900SE convertible with only 62k miles for my touring bike partially for that reason. I prefer the darker seat colors.
