In fact, my LR2 (despite the failed engine, but on warranty issue) has been a very cost effective, dependable vehicle.
Just keep up with the scheduled maintenance and it is your friend. Well done!

Champagne for you? A wax job for it?

my LR2 is just passing 100k - it's been great! the only big thing to replace so far was the turbo. other than that, the engine itself has been great. same with the suspension and related parts - all were strong at the production level, so they are all still intact after a decade on & off the pavement. it's been great! Unlike the new LR models that fraud-hype oversized rims as a benefit, the LR2 can fit rims from 17"-19" - correct and very appropriate for an on road and off road SUV. I think the LR2 is under-appreciated even by JLR. I bought a luxury LR with the "don't break down" idea - that's the luxury feature I was paying for. It cost 2x a comp. SUV because it was a solid build at the time. This Octa luxury of pretending a 22" rim is an advantage is nuts. IF JLR is not making the Defender to last like my LR2, they will surely sink the brand. The LR2 had a steel shell and as I've seen, exceptionally strong and overbuild parts. That's luxury. This new JLR track of trying to sell shiny black packages and pretending to equate luxury as image is a mirage. If JLR only sells aesthetics - it's not a luxury build. Build is in quality too, not just image. Hopefully Defender will be build similar to older LR models, but time will tell and the LR2 is a great measuring stick to quality.
