Default Upper coolant hose replacement 2008 LR2

The Upper coolant hose appears to have popped out of the connector where it goes into the engine. At any rate i ordered the hose and will replace but can’t figure out how to get the hose connector off (same connector at the radiator) - i can get one hand on the connector but it seems like some kind of quick release or something and it won’t budge. How the heck does it work??

Is this the right hose

LR000931

To remove this hose you lift up on the metal clip (I just removed it to make it easier) and then the hose comes straight off.

in my case the hose was stuck and I had to wiggle it back and fourth.

Note: the hose includes an alignment feature that prevents you from rotating it.

Be careful don't break the radiator.

If I were to do it again I would use a heat gun to warm up the connector on the end of the hose. (don't get it too hot you don't want to melt it)

Let us know what method you end up using.

For reference the 3.2 in the LR2 is shared with Volvo and the coolant hoses are also shared.

For my Volvo S80 with the 3.2 the hose came off significantly easier than the LR2.

this is likely due to the coolant that Volvo uses.

If I flush the coolant in my LR2 then I am going to switch to the Volvo coolant

just my $.02

Yes that’s the hose. I haven’t even tried to pull it off the radiator yet. I was trying to get it off the water outlet (bolted to the engine) because that’s where it sprung a leak. The hose was partly popped out of the connector there. The part of the connector nearest the hose came off, but the part nearest the engine (where the metal clamp is) won’t budge (i also took off the metal clamp). It seems like the water outlet has become brittle because a little chip came off the lip where the hose goes.

So so there’s nothing to squeeze or rotate when removing it? Is there a danger of damaging the water outlet (thermostat housing) when pulling on the connector?

The Thermostat is a know failure on this engine.

I wouldn't worry about breaking the thermostat, Just replace it.

Thanks - did you have to pull the entire engine out to remove the thermostat housing? I need someone with baby hands to reach in there.

Thanks. And I’d just like to say good grief.
