Default Upppgrade!

Finally broke down and installed the roof rack I picked up from Whitey's Wrecking in Spokane, WA out of another black 2008 LR2 they bought. FYI, the install manual doesn't say it but you'll need a 21mm DEEP socket and a short extension. The socket is pictured, but not the size. You'll also need a 24mm hole saw. And the front pins you install don't just slide into the holes in the racks. Use a piece of wood or a mallet to pound it in. Doesn't take much force but by hand it won't work.

The rack came with a second cross bar that I don't think is LR stock. Not in the instructions, so I have to play with it to see how it attaches to the rack. $200 for everything including shipping, hundreds less than buying an OEM rack.

My wife says that NOW it looks like a Land Rover. No clue what that means.

Huh. Turns out the crossbar is LR OEM. But the kit usually brings two crossbars and costs $300 on eBay. So I guess I got me $750+ worth of roof rack for $200. Not a bad deal.
