MAFs are often easy to examine visually. Pull it out and take a look at the small wires. They should be fairly clean, if there appears to be deposits you can try cleaning it with MAF spray cleaner (never touch the wires, they are fragile). If over 100k miles, probably just a good idea to replace it anyway.
The original MAF sensor is probably a Denso part, so if you do replace it you can save some money by getting the Toyota equivalent. Part number: 22204-22010
