Default '08 LR3 Fog Lights Keep Blowing Fuse

Hey Rovers. I just bought a used 2008 LR3 and the fog lights won't turn on. I changed the fuse and they worked for about 12 hours then went out again.

Might this be a common issue/fix? I bought it from a Buick/GMC dealer who is about to go in looking for the issue which makes me nervous. I wish they would just send it over to the Land Rover dealer to fix...

Thanks.

Harness runs behind the bumper skin, plug in behind pass headlight if that helps

Default Common issue, simple fix.

Remove both fog light assemblies and then look at about the first foot of harness attached to the back of the light.

If there is enough slack in the harnesses, you will find one of the lengths with the insulation rubbed off and an exposed conductor.

The cable rubs on something metal and sharp behind. Land Rover did not provide enough cable support or part of the bumper behind has a sharp cutting edge the conductor grounds to and hence the fuse blows.

In the newer 3's and 4's, LR provided more support and protection of the harness.

To remove fog light trim ring pulls out then unbolt the lens

If you need to remove the bumper cover it is very involved

Looks like that was it, bbyer! Thanks. The dealership reinforced it and now the lights stay on - hopefully for good.

Another sticky? There are now so many stickies that you have to scroll WAY down just to see new posts. You may consider un-sticking some of the current stickies!

I tend to agree re the stickys comment above.

It is probably better to create a subsection titled something like Solutions and Procedures to Recurring Concerns.

Otherwise, it will only be a matter of time until we will have to open on the second page to find new threads - probably not ideal either.

The odds are they found the problem and solved it. We always appreciate feedback as to how events were resolved so Thank You. The GM dealer also learned something as well.
