Default 2005 Land Rover LR3 Tonga Green Paint Code

Our 2005 Land Rover LR3 Tonga Green has suffered from clear coat failure for the last year or so, first a small spec on the hood, then a larger patch, then the top and the area between the main glass roof and the top of the rear hatch. It looked pretty bad. I took it to a recommended shop. I told the guy that the color needed to be spot on. I checked it out today, not color-sanded or rubbed out yet. The paintwork looked great, the color, however was not the same. Too much silver spec and too light a shade of green. Does anyone have the paint codes for a spot on version of Tonga Green? Paintwork that doesn't match drives me crazy........thanks Phil

I came up with Ditzler PPG 910558, but I can't vouch for it since we haven't had to repaint our 2005.

Well the truck has now been painted three times. Color still isn’t right. How stinking hard can this bee. Painter says that the pov color is water based. He is using the alternative. I don’t care what he uses I just want the dang paint to match. Arrrgh. Am I asking too much. Painter says he is okay with the color but he told me that I won’t be happy with it. Hoping to check it out tomorrow. Phil

About any reputable body shop should be able to match Tonga green.

100%!!!!

ljdiscovery, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if your painter can't match Tonga Green from the basic color formula, adjusting, and then doing a few test plates...… YOU HAVE THE WRONG PAINTER.
And that's not even expecting this Clown to use a spectrophotometer to help him out.
For a pro painter to tell you " he is okay with the color but he told me that I won’t be happy with it." is total Bull$hit!
This guy has no confidence and should be letting you proof the test plates BEFORE anything is sprayed on the body.

I really hope this paintjob works out for you!

I know, I get it. I didn't want to break the bank with the paint job. The shop that I would usually use wanted $4,000. This guy is recommended by my Porsche mechanic. He uses him for smaller jobs. I have seen the work that he does and what I have seen is nice. They were actually working on a full restoration of an original 1930s Cord. I looked at the LR3 yesterday. He got the color pretty darn close. Picking it up on Saturday, we will see how it looks when it is cleaned up and polished out. Crossing my fingers..........Phil

As a comparison.

My friend who I went to high school with has worked at and now runs a premier body shop for the last 25 years.

He charged me $1200 to do a hood and roof with perfect color match in Tonga green.

I had to take all the parts off and even remove the upper windshield trim
