Question 2005 LR3 Parking Sensor Problem

The sensor beeping has abruptly stopped. The LED comes on the Parking Aid Switch immediately when the ignition is turned on. The vehicle has been put in reverse and we have verified that all 4 sensors are clicking. But there is none of the beeping noise.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? Could it be the Parking Aid Sounder itself? If so where is it located in the vehicle and are there any recommendations where to purchase the replacement part?

Thanks

Hi, the sounder is behind the drivers side 'C' pillar/rear loadspace trim. Need to remove the 'C' pillar trim and (as per manual) the loadspace trim mounting bracket.

Just to clarify for future readers of this thread - that is the rear sounder. The warning from your front sensors comes through a speaker in your gauge cluster which is not replaceable (at least not without a lot of work and decent soldering skills).

Replacing the speaker (LR006482) ($21.67 from landrovermerriamparts.com) fixed my problem.

For future similar repairs you do not have to fully remove the 'C' pillar trim - Remove the small cover and then the bolt at the right side and the cover that is around the tail gate bracket on the left side. Gently play with the whole panel and eventually the top pops out to give you sufficient access to the two screws holding the load space trim mounting bracket. Remove the bracket and the speaker is just below the bottom edge of the window near the middle. Two more screws and you are done.

I know this is a super old thread but did this also fix the blinking parking sensor button in the dash that was indicating a problem? My LR3 doesn’t make any noise when being put into reverse and my parking sensor button is flashing. My GAP tool shows up next week but if this fixed your issue I may preorder the sounder for the rear, I only have rear parking sensors.

The problem was the the light was constantly on and the parking sensors didn’t generate a beep, but it was a ling time ago. I think that you heard the parking sensors make a quiet clicking noise when you were outside at the rear and the LR3 was running.
The replacement of the sounder definitely fixed my problem that day.
Still have the 2005 LR3 and now with 152k miles. Just replaced all the radiator and heater hoses as the plastic connectors have a lifetime shorter than the vehicle.
