Default 2006 lr3 key fob broke n key no good

My key fob broke. Was ran over by forklift. Fell out my pocket at work. I KNOW, WHAT A DUMB ***....

i live in WILLISTON ND. There are no LAND ROVER DEALERS WITHIN 1500 MILES!!!

I also have the GAP TOOL.

How can i get a key cut without taking to dealer? I think i can program myself.

IS ANYWHERE I CAN SEND MY VIN, REGISTRATION & COPY OF MY DRIVERS LICENSE TO GET ONE MAILED TO ME???

or am i just ****ed... the broken key is broke n cannot be copied. The guts n chip inside are fugged as well....

any & all suggestions will be much appreciated!!!!

Looks like you may have what you need without going to the dealer.

Is the blade OK? If you get a cheap knock off fob on the internet, they have blank blades. (a quick search on this forum can let you read let you know all of the cautions about buying these off the internet)

If the blade is good, when you get your replacement FOB and case, you can unpin the new blade from the swivel part, put the old blade in the new swivel part then assemble the new FOB case. You can reprogram following the Gap instructions if you have a good working key.

If you don't have a good working key, then a trip to the dealer is in order. (Part Number: LR088261 Supersession(s): CWE500051SWA) To protect against future acts of stupidity (I am **** to those) I bought 2 cut blades from the dealer (about $40 each) and put them in my parts box for the next cheap FOB I need when I do finally break the blade. (Part Number: CWF500011SW). I know an additional $40-$80 seems a lot, but when you are forced to give up $200+ at the dealer for the new key, plus programming, a spare key fob and factory cut blade is cheap insurance against a trip to the dealer.

Hope this helps.

Jeff

My dealer required VIN and proof of ownership. (I had to show my title and current insurance forms to get the parts dept to order it so for the hassle, I bought 2 of them).

Thanks ... the key broke n nothing is useable.

ive determined it will be cheaper to just buy a new

2006 Land Rover Lr3 Ignition Switch W/ Key 3m51-3f880-ae OEM 05 06 07 08 09

Which comes with a new key. Ill just have to reprogram it with my GAPiiD tool...

Really appreciate your reply.

I think you need a a good key to program another key. If you have no functional key... dealer it is. Also a used key MUST be blanked to be able to be programed. You can not program a key already programmed.
