I am new to Land Rovers. I just purchased a 2008 LR3 HSE and it only came with one key. The dealer said I could purchase on online from Ebay for less than the dealer, but I'm am unsure of which one to buy. Can any one help?

Odds are you're going to save time, money and eventual heartache by just going to the main dealer. AFAIK, all LR keys are cut and sourced from the UK based on your VIN number. I tried a couple of eBay suppliers who were good enough to offer a return warranty when I couldn't get the key coded to my 07 LR3 even by the main dealer. There are indications that the RFID chip in the fob needs to be seeded with the VIN # or a number derived from that in order for your dealer to be able to "pair" the key to your vehicle.

My dealer charged $260 for the cut key and fob, it took ten days to arrive and they would have charged me about an hour labour to pair it but I managed to do that myself in five minutes with my Faultmate tool.
