Default 2006 LR3 rear hatch issues

Hello everyone,
I know there are some posts regarding this issue but I didn't see one quite like my issue so here goes! My 2006 LR3 with about 176 K on the odometer has been having an ongoing issue with the rear hatch not activating and opening. So after some research I decided to replace the actuator that is in the lower tailgate as that seems to be a problem. Replaced that and it still would not release the upper lift gate. So then I bought the manual release latch from Land Rover Passion and installed that in the back of the lower tailgate so that I could at least open the rear hatch. It's a bit of a job to install this latch, but it works well and looks "factory", though it is still a pain to climb in there and pull the release. And while I was installing the manual release and new actuator, I also installed a new tailgate release that has the cable that attaches to the actuator. This also did not fix my problem.
So then I decided to remove the upper hatch switch and see if that was compromised in any way. It was worn looking and I realized that it was not making any sound like it was even trying to open the hatch. So today I soldered in a new switch into the upper hatch that I had ordered and still nothing. No clicking, nada, not a thing. If anyone has any advice at this point I would be most grateful!

I did check the fuse for the Central locking and that was fine. That was the one that seemed to make the most sense to me, but I saw in one of the posts you alerted me to that it might be a different fuse- 65?
And thank you for those other posts, I totally missed those as I only searched tailgate and not upper liftgate. Thank you! Exact problem I am having, same year too.
