Default 2006 LR3, replaced control arm bushings but still hearing the clunk!

Hello,

I have a 2006 LR3. Under hard braking, I am getting a clunk sound from the lower control arms banging against the chassis. I replaced both the big and small bushings on each side of the LCA's, and it is still banging against the chassis. Sway bar links and bushings are good, and everything is tight. I'd hate to spend the couple hundred of dollars to replace the whole control arms and have the same problem. The bushings were definately installed correctly, and the bolts are tight. Any ideas? Or is this just a design flaw? I called my local dealer and they have never heard of updated bushings or control arms.

Have it diagnosed at the dealer. Who knows what you screwed up. Heck you could have put them in wrong say left for right and vice versa. Not to mention i bet the alignment is way off as well. Make sure they align it after they found what you screwed up. Asking us for the answer wont help if you already threw parts at it. Its a noise that has to be heard and diagnosed.

Actually I only got one side at a time from the dealer so that would be impossible. And its not out of alignment. I can hear the noise and physically see whats causing it. Thanks for your overall useless response.

It may be that it is not only the suspension design that is flawed. Sometimes information is only readily available to those who know how to ask.

There definitely is a revised updated lower A arm / ball joint design for the 3. Near all knowledgeable owners of the early LR3's have already implemented the modification.

I suggest you search the forums; you may learn quite a bit, particularily how to ask for information which is freely given, but more often than not, only to those who know how to ask.
