2007 LR3 Overheat problems
Hello everyone! First time here and I have to say this seems like a nice network of people and a huge knowledge base! Glad to be a member.
My Wife purchased a 2007 LR3 a year ago and it has been running flawlessly for us. Very comfy, reliable and a joy to drive.
Unfortunately, last night on the way home from work, the TEMP Gauge Jumped from MIDDLE to RED in seconds while idling at the stop light.
There has been NO coolant leaks visible, The coolant level is Stable (not low or any signs of leaks), the only smell from the engine compartment is the smell of HOT coolant (that fishy sweet smell) when a car is over temp. No leaks or anything. The tube from the thermostat to the overflow is hot/warm, the tube from the overflow to the radiator is hot/warm.
I think it's the thermostat... what do you guys think?
Any help is appreciated!

Yeah unfortunately I'd take it in as well. If your mileage on the wife's vehicle is around 90k I believe that's when you need to change hoses on it as part of regular maintenance. Not that I did that though... still waiting.
Are there bubbles in the system? Have you done any work on coolant system recently?
EDIT: maybe check under the engine cowling where the T shaped bleeder valve is. When they fail they kind of explode but normally I don't think coolant cycles through the area so you may not have noticed the leak.
