Default 2005 LR3 - Coolant leak, now overheat - seeking advice

I'll try to be brief - I went to LR dealer for oil change, left with a low coolant reading, and diagnosis of a "coolant leak", repair = $377 ( I think it's for a coolant/water pump replacement ). Tech said just to be careful until I bring it in again to get it done. Never before, but right after leaving, I noticed a small leak. Filled with coolant = good to go for a few days if I kept adding a little coolant every day. But suddenly it over-heated, seeming as though it's not taking the coolant from the resevoir now, when the days before, it was - with the hood up I can hear some "bubbling" over sound ( it's coolant ). After lifting cover I noticed the Tvalve connector broken. I replaced it ( not with a land rover piece, but from auto shop ) but I'm still getting it to over-heat in a short period of time, still acting like it's not moving the coolant, or the leak is so big now it just comes out of the coolant pump or something. I'm not a mechanic, I just would like some help or pics of "what it should look like" or something where I can do a slight diagnosis before taking it in this week - Thank you for your help, and I have read similar posts but wanted direct input. A coolant leak I was dealing with until I take it in - but now I may not be able to get to the LR dealership because of over-heating.

If my LR3 was on the verge of or I know it's overheating or going to, I would flatbed it to the dealer. If you overheat it, and warp your head, bend valves, etc. it is going to really suck. I am not sure why you want to push it to the limit. It could be a thermostat, water pump and it could be that it isn't keep the pressure right at this stage. I would not push my luck.

I know this isn't particularly technical and not the answer you are looking for.

Thank you - yes, I'm thinking that's the only answer, flatbed it to the dealer.

Here you go men, Land Rover Workshop Manuals - LR3/Discovery 3 - Thermostat it's the instructions on how to remove the thermostat, it sounds like that is your problem, also just as FYI I am not an expert I am just a guy who love his lr3 and I had a similar issue. Also I bought the thermostat from bputah.com

Also as for the leak I have seen a pressure test device done that way you can trace the leak and order the hose etc. look on the link it shows you the pressure testing device etc and the auto parts place sales any hose at a reasonable price.

I hope that helps

X2 on this, I wouldn't try messing with this myself. Take it from someone who tried diagnosing and screwing around with the 3.9 in my classic so much that I ended up needing a new motor.

Money spent on towing could be far less than repairs that could be triggered. Rovers and overheating seldom have good outcomes.

Thank you for the feedback and responses. I will most likely just get it to the dealer, but since I'm waiting till Friday, I will research the heck out of it just for the sake of learning. I will review your posted links/manuals - thank you.
