Default About to do some engine preventative maintenance . . . what else should I tackle?

Hey all,

Soon I'll be doing some preventative work on my LR3. It runs great but is approaching 165k, so thought I'd tackle some things ahead of time rather than find out on the trail. Outside of the suspension and steering which I am redoing, I'm also going to tackle the cooling system, including hoses, water pump, and radiator. Since I'll already be that deep into the accessory drive system, is there anything else ya'll think I should tackle at that time? Should I consider doing the timing components as well?

Thanks all!

Timing components are a lot deeper in than the accessory drive system, isn't it? I'd consider R&R'ing the thermostat if it's been a while. Of course inclusive of the cooling system replace the bleeder with a brass fitting if you haven't already. If you're going to do plugs, it would be a good time to do a BG engine cleaning through the fuel rail. If I think of other stuff I'll add.

Doing the thermostat and housing as well, and the brass bleeder is already new. I know the timing is deeper, but I believe doing it requires much of the front drive to come off as well, so if it's something I should do, I'd rather dig into it once if that makes sense.

Yeah not sure on the should part....doesn't seem to be an issue on the 4.4L.

I would NOT do the timing as preventive maintenance. I recently did mine, but it was only for a bad cold-start rattle due to a failed VVT gear. After having seen all of the timing components close up (105k miles, 4.4L), they were all in really good shape. I would consider OEM hoses (at least the for upper radiator hose) The gates upper hose is a bad fit. I would also replace the 2 belt drive tensioners and idler pulley. And the oil filter housing gasket. I also do not recommend URO's thermostat housing assembly...it's a bad fit too.

Here's my recent job with more detail (maybe too much):
