How does bypassing the amp work? I thought that meant that you remove the amp all together. I recently found an amp for land rovers that says you leave the HK amp in place then unhook then green connector (back side of the HK amp, that goes to speakers) then you plug it into the new amp. Not sure what else needs done?

After reading more.... looks like you have to relocate your factory head unit. I’m not really a fan of that. I think I’m still leaning towards replacing the upper cubby with a screen.

Some people have done that but i've been told that the correct harness negates that but yet to see a successful conversion.

I have to report that at almost exactly the year mark the unit failed. I was using android auto with the Waze and Podcast app running when I unplugged my phone to take a photo of a roadside sign, when I plugged it back in it would not connect. Support was extremely difficult to contact. I tried chat multiple times, left chat messages, emailed numerous times and got no reply for weeks. I finally commented on a YouTube installation video and got a reply. They helped me trace it down to the dongle which is, of course, not under warranty. I ordered another one from Amazon and will see if that works. I really can't recommend the unit anymore. This was installed on a third vehicle that is rarely used and it broke within a years time. Support is almost impossible to contact, I asked a few questions during install and got no reply as well as my recent problems. I asked for the reset code, was provided with an incorrect one, and so far got no reply after asking again a few times. I liked it when it worked, there are a few things that bother me. There is a radio icon on the home screen that is useless and cant be removed, I can't download apps from the app store such as Waze to use on the unit itself, I'm locked out of developer options and unit resets because of the incorrect code. The unit just seems not well thought out.

Thank you for the update! I was worried about that. I wish kenwood, or Alpine made a bracket for it to fit. I know some members wedge them in, but I’m not looking to do that.

I don’t want to cut my dash and have a unit in that doesn’t work. Not sure what to do. I’m glad that I didn’t order anything yet.

Thanks,
Joe

I'll let you know if it was just the dongle after I receive it next week. Could be a $38 fix.

Default Purchased this, finally have the android turning on and booting up.

I purchased the same rear view camera and installed. The light turns on and I have the yellow video plug going from the camera to the special reverse yellow plug on the android unit but the video doesn’t come through?
Any advice?

You need to wire that red wire into a tail light reverse light.

Correct, the red wire goes to the reverse light. That triggers the head unit to display the rear camera input.

Or you could power it from up front and fit a switch so you can use it forward and in reverse.
