Default Air line ferrule install tips?

I needed to replace a section of hose that comes out of the compressor. I bought a kit, but the ferrules are not installed. Anyone have any tips for getting them installed? I thought about a lighter or torch (gently) but didn’t want to warp it. I also thought about hot water but didn’t know if it’d get hot enough.

I’m not understanding the issue you are having. Can you post up some photos of what you are working with?

I bought the kit pictures. The brass inserts (ferrule) have a rib on it which, I assume, is to slide into the rib formed in the air line to keep it in place. The problem is the air line is rigid and won't expand (at least at room temperature) to allow the rib to enter the line. I'm thinking heat would soften it up, but I don't want to damage the line and have to buy another, fairly expensive, kit.

Those are inserts so the line does not collapse, but are not 100% necessary.

You can just push the line in, to the “hilt” into the push connector.

If you have to use them, grease them up and push in. If it won’t get past the flare heat up the line slightly with a heat gun.

I just installed it backwards. It stuck out a little less than a quarter of an inch, but it didn't matter, no leaks when installed in my shiny new compressor.
