Thank you. I will definitely return and give the guy a bad review for being a liar.

FYI, back in October 2023 I bought a pair of BWI. I am a price-hunt-aholic and will gladly spend days making sure that I am getting a real deal and the best price. Basically I shop around to Earth's end. I paid, with shipping, over $600 for a pair of BWI from LR Parts. As you can see the shipping was brutal, but even with that it was still cheaper ordering from them in the UK than anyone in the US. When it comes to LR parts, there are few than can compete with UK prices even with shipping. Same when I did my full front and rear end rebuilds. Shipping may be $200 for one order, but the parts are legit and oddly I still come out ahead and save money versus buying from a US source.

Great advice, thank you. I to am a price sensitive buyer. My wife makes fun of me because I’ll spend more time than I should researching prices. You saved me some time!

Pair of Dunlops are $150 cheaper than pair of BWI. What do I get in the BWI that I won’t with the Dunlop?

Dunlop are fine! I recall that they were even an OEM part but I dont think for production, but for service replacement parts at dealers and such. Save some cash!

Tks. Will order them tonight.

I still can’t decide if I can make the time to attempt this repair myself. A local European car shop quoted me $775 for labor. Fair price for this job?

Its not a difficult job, worst part is reaching the inner top strut nut. Certainly not worth spending that much in labour for.

I received the “fakes” in the mail. Just want to make sure one more time that the consensus is they are fakes before I return them and call they guy a liar on the review. Pictures attached.

Well for one that white part number stamp is a classic for generic parts. But there is a SUPER easy way I can convince you they are fakes. Again, that label. Notice that it is identical to that in the auction - including the suppose time it was made. But you say, surely I simply got the set the photographed.... Nah, the struts done even match. First in the auction the labels are lower down on the strut. But the strut themselves are not even quite the same. The metal work at the bottom edge of the aluminum is not machined the same. So basically how could the struts they show and the ones you have end up being made at the exact same time..... 16:47 and same date..... And again if you look at other auction of "genuine", etc. You will see that same label with the same date/time/etc. Because that label is made in bulk to put on fakes. Real struts will have different dates/times of course because they really, really need to track that incase there is a production issue.

Now like I said before, they could still be very much better than what you have now. They just are not BWI or OEM by a long shot. The ride quality, you will not know until install. And the shock could fade fast going from a smooth ride to harsh quickly. It really comes down to how long you may keep the Rover, if you care and such. It is not like you paid for genuine at genuine prices.

Thank you Dakota. I fully trust you and appreciate the help. These will be going back. I know that I won’t be happy without OEM because I will always question what I have. Don’t know how long the river will last at 265k miles but it is running strong and I’ll keep as long as it makes sense.

I have the others coming anyway. With shipping a little over $600 but I won’t have to replace again.
