Alarm goes off randomly at night. Help?
Sorry for not searching. I lock the car and the alarm goes off five minutes later. I get a warning for the bonnet open. I would assume this is why the alarm goes off. I'm pretty sure it's a sensor that isn't working but which one? The hood is shut as well as the rear hatch. Any insight?

Defective bonnet switch on right passenger side
Within the file link below is a 17 page pdf re the locking and alarm system. Note on page 9/17 of the pdf, LR has it explained backwards but the quick fix is to unplug the connector from the switch and ground across the two pins on the harness side.
The proper fix is to purchase a new switch - the problem is common and the fix routine.
Further to my comment re page 9/17, the explanation of the operation of the hood ajar switch being wrong, the bonnet switch operates similar to the door and tailgate ajar switches; that is when a "door" is closed, the switch is closed to maintain a ground back to the CJB. Opening the hood, door, or tailgate removes the ground breaking the circuit and hence allows for an alarm condition. As such connecting across the two conductors on the harness side will fool the system into thinking the hood is shut.

Super common on L319, L320 and L322 platforms. So common that I keep a hood switch in stock.
Here is an example where a good diagnostic tool is very valuable, because you can look at the alarm history, but the fact that you get the "bonnet open" message is proof enough.
Cheap part and easy to install.

Got the switch and it is fixed! 40 minute drive to the dealer $47 and 10 minutes replacing it. Now the Audi and of course you fix one car the other isn't happy. I guess the Audi is getting some love tomorrow... Yes I am a glutton for punishment. Thanks for the help guys! I also have to say you were pretty nice to me for my second post. Most forums will flame you for not searching before posting.

Hello fellow LR lovers. I have a ’06 LR3. I amexperiencing the familiar alarm intermittently going off. It only happens in the summer/spring timeframe went the truck is out of doors in the heat. Initially I replaced the bonnet switch andstill experienced the same problem. Asof late, I replaced the bonnet latch assembly and still having the sameissue. I will say that from time to timeI get a message on the dash that one of the doors is not closed as well as thereare times with I cannot lock the truck (with remote) because one the doorsseems not to be closed and the horn sounds. I would love some feedback from others that have experienced thisproblem. Also, is there a way that thealarm system can be disarmed until I can figure out this problem and have it resolved? I am currently leaving the truckunlocked. Thanks in advanced for yourhelp.
