Default Alternator Harness Repair (alternative part found)

Hi guys,

Not sure if this was already a known alternative or not but thought I'd share just in case it helps someone out of a jam.

I was replacing the alternator on my 2006 LR3 4.4 and noticed that the clip on the alternator connector was broken. Because of this there was no way to be sure the plug would clip in and stay in place. I really wanted to get it put back together today so I started looking for any plug I could adapt.
I found this Pigtail Connector at my local O'reilly auto parts. Its meant for an Isuzu Trooper (also great trucks!) but it fits the LR3 alternator perfectly, you'll just have to cut off the old one and splice the wires to the new one. I recommend doing this one wire at a time, even though its only three wires they are pretty important to get right.
I just started it up, not throwing any faults and its charging at 14.5 volts! I haven't actually driven it yet because the suspension will only rise and won't stay at standard height, but that's seems to be a separate issue.

Cheers!

Isuzu connector fits perfectly

Nice find, the Sumitomo TS 3 Way Alternator Plug Housing, (Toyota # 90980-11349) also fits.

Being prone to break, I keep a couple spare connectors on hand and confirm stock when doing an alt swap. So far I have had non break (fingers crossed) AB sells connectors too I think. But any alternative source is always a plus, especially a local one when needed in a pinch!
