amber park brake light, voltage issues
Well, in the never ending world of Land Rover service, I have yet another issue. I replaced the battery in our 2006 Range Rover Sport HSE 4.4 about two months ago. All was great until two days ago. I noticed an amber park brake light on the dash. I activated the park brake lever and shut it off, I could hear it engage and disengage. I got on the forum and saw a number of posting, some indicated that it could be caused by low voltage or a bad ground strap. I got home last night and check the voltage with the truck off, 12.25. I started the truck and got 13.25, it sat there for a few seconds and then started to progressively drop until within a few minutes it was down to 12.70. It danced up and down a few hundredths, but seemed to settle in around 12.65 to 12.70. I drove to work today and all was fine, no amber park brake light. (I did not test the voltage). Is there another way to test the alternator? Am I looking at a new/replacement alternator. Has anyone experienced this issue? thanks Phil
2005 LR3 HSE 4.4 HD/Cold Weather Package (very necessary in San Diego) (needs new front struts, front right is leaking and maybe lower control arms, water pump is leaking a little)
2006 Range Rover Sport HSE 4.4 Cold Weather Package (lower control arm bushing burst after just 25k miles, leaking water pump gasket, my fault.....alternator maybe?)
2010 Range Rover Sport HSE 5.0 no cold weather package or heated seats? who does that? (just a sweet ride, wife has now commandeered it)
