Android tablet in the factory Nav cubby
army Rover,
Having lost both of my Rovers to Hurricane Harvey (see my thresd on notes from Houston)
I may seek out an SE to avoid the satnav workaround. If I do, I may need a detailed list and some instruction/support to follow your lead.
Of course getting the house back together is higher on the list than modifing my Rover
Jeff

I'll see about putting up a final parts list when I sort this out.
So with everything in place I have to say a line level boost would be good. It's not horrible but the Tab is maxed on volume and the stereo is at 95% and quality is suffering of course.
The other issue is needing to clearance a bit more for the charging cable. The 90 degree unit I picked up just doesn't quite clear. I ground as much plastic as I dare of of the cable need to see how much more I can clear off the AC duct plastics. The other option is a small gap on the drivers side of the tablet and the trim.
The 90 degree headphone jack was a perfect fit.
I tapped into the cig lighter for a switched 12 volt source for charging. I installed a double 2.1 amp USB outlet in the dash so it can power the tab and the "head phone amp".
Reading reviews on head phone amplifiers as they are called now lol, going to find one to go with and get it on the way.

Didn't get the time to screw with this that I would have liked but the headphone amp showed up yesterday afternoon.
So it is a 80% solution. It has workable volume levels now. I went with a small one by FIIO sound quality is good so that is a plus. If I were going to do this over I would order the next one up as it has a bit more punch to the amp.
For now this will work. I have it tucked away in the dash, still need to clearance the ac duct plastic on the drivers side vent for the charging cable.
Spent more time making sure all the small stuff around the house was stowed for the upcoming Hurricane/Tropical storm thing.
I do have my Gap IID tool linked to the tablet so that is a big plus, also tossed a micro sd card in the tab and now have 46 GB of music on tap.

Army, I’ve been following this since you started....
Would you be willing to post your final thoughts, wiring details, parts list and approx cost?
Do you have any pictures of the grinding you did on the surround?
Thanks!

I actually need to take a second try on the headphone amp. Life has gotten a bit in the way but I hope to finish it up soon.
Sorry for the delay I didn't think to many folks were actually interested.
