Mechatronics Sleeve
So my shop replaced my trans pan and didn't do the mechatronics sleeve. Is it possible to just drop the pan and reach the sleeve or does the whole pan need to come out again to replace it?
Need to drain the oil & drop the pan as it's the only way to get at and release the sleeve's retainer and by all accounts that's easy part. I was going to do mine myself, but I know that access to the sleeve and the electrical connector on V8s in very tight, too much so to do it on the driveway. So I've elected to get my independent LR shop to do it, as it's easier done on the 4 poster.
Owners of diesels have it easy when it comes to this task but we have the exhaust pipe in the way.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the fluid pan. For additional information, refer to Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter (44.24.04)(Section 307-01)
Disconnect the electrical connector. See right hand picture.
Remove and discard the electrical connector sleeve. See left hand picture.
Drain Auto gearbox oil and remove oil pan.
Release the sleeve retainer.
Remove retainer.
What these pictures do not show is the proximity of the exhaust pipe which adds to the difficulty of reaching the connector and sleeve. Nor does this description talk about how to remove the sump for this you should search on YouTube where there are some good videos.
This one from Atlantic British shows the job quite well.
