Any Modern Solutions for LR3 Remote Start?
I am looking to install a remote starter for the approaching Rocky Mountain winter. Is there any updated advice or information on makes/models that will work, or any special considerations or starter type that needs to be taken into consideration?
Even just reading people's stories about needing "an extra key" are vague and don't really explain if the key just needs stashed hidden in the vehicle for proximity - and if so, does that prevent the car from locking the drivers side door all the time, or keep the ECU's awake, or have adverse affects on normal behaviors? One person mentioned hiding a fob inside the dash - but then how does it ever charge since they charge in the ignition?
After hours of research I've found there are folks confidently saying you can't do it, folks confidently saying it'll ruin the electronics, and folks confidently saying they have done it - yet they are all old posts and also don't seem to be any direct confirmation of what a person might look for when getting one installed.
SO... It's 2023 and I'm looking to install at the very very most basic, a fob where I can push a button to start my car when it's -20º and ideally, something as plug and play as possible can be done by a normal shop considering vehicle electrical is NOT my wheelhouse.
Help - any one have insight here?
