Bad start for new lr guy
any used LR can have issues and you need to be used to maintenance bills with them. Just do not go to your Dealer find a local British mechanic!!! After buying mine the dealer told me $3800 to fix a few things. Local British mechanic (British Auto Specialists offers mechanical repair and body work for British built vehicles, loacated in Calgary) was only $430. Best thing to do is take it in tell them you just bought it and due a Full Check on it. Once you have this done you will LOVE your LR...Trust me. I run with Jeeps and I almost never get stuck. To date LR3 =9 and Jeep 1 in current getting stuck. Expect your yearly bills to be 5-10K for Maintenance. I have my Hydraulics checked twice a year due to heavy 4x4ing, might be over kill but I hate it when a Jeep beats me on the road.
BTW if you did not get an Interstate Battery then you should replace it right away!!! ONLY use interstate if your not using the OEM batteries. A hard lesson learn for me.

BTW my battery is a NAPA legend...I think they are good solid batteries. They get great reviews....from my understanding...a lot of lr3 guys are running them. It is a month old...not going to replace it til it needs replacing...
5-10k Maintainence? Most 05 LR3's are barely worth 10k....
Anyhow I have now completed my first LR3 starter replacement. A bit of a pain and some tight access but with patience it can be done with a few hand tools. It took me 2 1/2 hours. A lot of time is taken buy wheel removal, skid plate removal, heat shields etc.
Here is a lesson in running an older LR. The dealer wanted $400 for the starter and $280 labour plus shop fees and taxes.Figure close to $750.
I bought a reman. starter on Rock Auto for $35 + $55 core + shipping. It arrived in less than a day.
I saved close to $650.
