Default Blown Head Gasket :(

I have asked questions in this forum a couple times, now I need some real advice. I took my 2006 lr3 with 85000 miles to the dealership today for the check engine light and a coolant leak. They came back with a misfire on #3 and a possible blown hg with a 4000.00 repair bill. Dealership said they have not seen this before and have no experience with this problem. So is this normal for a hg to go at 85k? Is it worth the repair cost or just replace the whole engine? How hard is the repair to complete? I am absolutely sick to my stomach with this news. I have had this truck less than a year. Someone please help with some good news.

Ouch. Blown head gaskets are a way of life for the D2 owners, but this is the first I've heard of a D3/ LR3 starting to leak.

My advice would be to find a good indy LR mechanic in your area, and get both a second opinion and estimate from them.

Good luck.

x2. Never heard of a HG leak on an LR3. Get a second, or third, opinion.

And make sure you keep the coolant level up if you're driving it like that. A replacement engine will be upwards of $10k if not more...

So was your coolant leak a visible one?
I would want to know what made them disqualify other causes of the misfire.
What does your oil look like? Any evidence of coolant mixing in it?
