Gents

Found a good shop, while they don't specialize in rovers they at least do some euro as well as Japanese and American. When they changed the oil they came and said that the front two bolts on the little front skid plate were missing. This is thanks to the previous oil change shop and just another reason why I moved on.

I have tried several times to get a bolt that will be the appropriate replacement. Anybody know what exactly they were? I know they aren't a coarse threaded M8.

Thanks in advance
DW

Default M10 x 25mm?

I figure that the original part number of the bolt you are looking for was KYG500261. That number was superseded to be KYG500500.

Below is a link to the KYG500500 bolt.

Notice it has a sort of fancy integral washer - you might want to get the exact one. I would however take off one of the currently existing bolts and see if it appears to be a M10 x 25.

Bolt With Washer 10 X 25 Mm (Genuine Part # KYG500500 ) - Land Rover bolts\clamps\brackets\washers from Atlantic British

Let us know what the size really turns out to be. That is how the forum works and we all learn.

Default Bolt specs II

Thanks for the quick reply. Those are the correct bolts for the big cover. The cover/plate I am looking at is the one right in front of the big one. This smaller cover when removed allows access to the oil filter. Need the front to bolts. I tried to use one of the the referenced bolt from the big cover and they are too big in diameter. Is there such a thing as an M9?

Default Radiator shield?

There are M6 x 16mm bolts for something called the radiator shield, a smaller rectangular piece. It appears that these bolts screw into what I call a clip nut, one of those springy U shaped bits also sometimes called speed nuts.

As such, the thread might not be what one would think - perhaps more course than a metric DIN thread.

The Land Rover part number is DEP1198 or KYG800380

I also think I see it on eBay.

When I changed my oil the first time, the PO had gone to a quick lube and most of skid bolts were gone. Went to local DIY Center and bought grade 8 stainless and replace missing bolts.
