I'm interested in taking my 1997 Disco off-road, but I want to make sure I don't take someplace that it's not ready for. It's stock, no off-roads mods (yet). It does not have the adjustable suspension feature.

What kind of stuff could I do with this? Obviously, I probably don't want to take it rock climbing without some shielding or whatnot, but is there anything special I should be thinking about?

Also, if a body were considering some off-road mods, what would you start with? I was thinking my first bet would be shielding for steering and differential, but I'm not an expert by any means.
