Decided to pick up an LR3 to replace my wrangler. It is an 05 with 84k miles. The miles were slightly higher than I wanted but it is pretty clean. I bought out of state and had it looked over and then driven by a friend. I lucked out and found out that it has a few more options than I realized and was completely dealer maintained. Should be delivered sometime next week.

Here's the maintenance list. IMHO you would be well served to consider the schedule for arduous use, and the idea of 150,000 miles on various fluids under the truck is wishful thinking. As an example, your front differential holds 1/3 the fluid of a D1. Your truck weighs 1300 pounds more, and has 300 vs 188 ponies under the hood. These trucks seem to have electrical systems that are heavy duty power users, always have a good battery.

 

Thanks for the info, I plan to check the battery out and go with the recommended interstate battery, also going to pick up the the brake light switch and few spare tail lights. I also want to get one of the code readers eventually. Ill definitely look into the front differential.

Check out my oil change thread; pics and info on changing oil in engine, front and rear diffs, air filters and front diff breather. Very easy to do without special tools. Definitely a must for the front diff.

Ya. It shows up as a SE. Must have just been ordered with almost every option available at the time.

I have been very happy with it so far. I had it delivered from AZ to CO and had a brief leak from a transmission cooler line when it arrived. It ended up not being an issue and just needed tightened down. I have done around 2500 miles and have averaged a hand calculated 15.7 mpg. 19.8 on the high end and 11.7 mpg during a small blizzard. I ordered the iidtool and have loved having the ability to scan and lift /lower the vehicle at will. I dropped the suspension for a 800 mile road trip and the truck handled great. Right now I'm on the hunt for a second set of wheels for some all terrain tires. People want and arm and a leg for used wheels and I'm struggling to find an aftermarket cheap wheel. I also plan on doing sliders as well.
I had a chance to take it offroad to do some rock crawling and I was impressed and that's coming from driving a lifted wrangler jk on 35" mud terrains. Very pleased so far.
