Bought a new key shell, won't start LR3
I got a new key fob shell for my 2007 LR3. Took apart the original key fob, installed both the old chip and the old key in the new shell.
It will lock and unlock the doors using the buttons, and the key will turn in the ignition, but when I try to actually start the vehicle, it won't do anything.
Ideas?

I'm pretty sure the immobilizer chip is the black rectangle on the small leg of the board closest to the key blade.
You might have knocked it off the board on one side. Inspect with a magnifying glass and see if you can find the disconnect. Maybe you can solder it back on the board.

I'm saying that the piece is not off the board, just the connection is severed in either end where it is soldered to the board. I'll shoot some pics later.
I did a replacement and threw the bad case away. Would get a no start but everything else worked. Luckily, I had pulled trash out of waste can and dropped old case to bottom of can. Retrieved and replace chip and all works well. I presume he said irretrievable, it is gone.
the shell itself doesn't matter, abran is correct in that the chips can be damaged during the swap process, must take great care not to nick the existing wiring/solder.
Both of my key fob shells have been replaced, and I have a few spare shells waiting for when those go downhill. No issues
