Hope everyone is doing well and has a good start to 2016. I took a hiatus from these boards for the rest of the summer as the LR won't see much action outside of vacations / winter months.

Just recently had some new front tires thrown on and the tech that did it mentioned wheel bearings were going to be needed in the near future. Well not more than 500 miles later and I am getting significant noise when making right hand turns at speed (think going around bends on the highway). In my experience this is the wheel bearing which is taking the majority of the load which needs to be replaced (drive side in my case).

I got a replacement hub from Atlantic British and will try and tackle it this week. In others experience should I go ahead and plan to replace the passenger side as well, or just wait until I get the growling when making sweeping left hand turns to replace that side.

Also, I think the parking brake got stuck the other day (didn't disengage fully) and was wondering if there are any recommended services that should be done to keep things functioning correctly on that front.

On a side note, I was fortunate enough to get 30+ inches of snow this past weekend and had some good fun cruising around. This beast still impresses me with how well it handles poor road conditions.

Default One side done

Took just over 2 hours and did it in the driveway with hand tools. Lifted both sides to check for play and passenger was worse of the two. I will be doing the drivers side in the next week though as its not as tight as it should be (especially when compared to the new bearing). Not a bad job.. about the same as doing brakes.

Been a while since I posted in here.. hope everyone is enjoying the summer and getting some good use of the

Replaced the other wheel hub shortly after the first, and just last weekend serviced the front diff fluid. It didn't look pretty but there is no noticeable vibrations or other noises, so will just keep swapping every oil change. Easy enough job and takes longer to remove splash guard than drain the fluid.

Gearing up for another road trip.. although this one is a bit more significant (4K+ miles in 2 weeks). I pulled the TB for a good cleaning and to change the gasket, and look over coolant hoses. This was right after a 15 min drive to warm up the diff fluid. When I lifted the coolant hose with the stupid bleeder valve to move the TB I was greeted with a steady stream of 180F G12 blasting me in the chest. With the coolant gushing everywhere I tried to plug the busted T fitting back together for a few seconds before I couldn't take it anymore.

After things cooled down, I topped off with distilled water and swapped the T fitting for an I connector to connect the two hose ends.

Just grabbed one of these off ebay for a nice bargain, and will make a great upgrade when traveling with three dogs.

Going to grab new thermostat kit from AB along with the bleeder fitting before we leave. Will drop some pics from the journey as we go.

Got the new thermostat housing swapped in this weekend along with bleeder valve. I made a mess as it seems there is no simple method to drain the coolant without vacuuming it out of the system. Topped off with distilled water and have brought up to temp half dozen times to push any air out.

Also picked this up on eBay for the road trip to keep the furry passengers in the back. Mounting points are solid and the wire is about the same thickness as a standard dog crate door.

Just got back from 5100 mile road trip across 14 states with the wife and the three dogs. Rover performed flawlessly, and the only issues were unavoidable ones (killed a tire due a roofing nail, and cracked windshield from rocks getting kicked up on the highway).

Oil change and front diff fluid are getting swapped today with Royal Purple.

On a side note, has anyone noticed their console fridge will turn off for a period of time on long road trips? I am assuming its just like a big fridge and has a defrost cycle, but can anyone confirm this?

I've never really used my console fridge much. I tried it a bit when I first got the truck but it didn't seem to get that cold. And then I added a 60qt Dometic in place of the center rear seat, so no call for the console unit anymore.

Yeah it is pretty small and useless now a days We had the Yeti in the backseat with the dog for the majority of cool items, but nice to keep some stuff a little closer (hard boiled eggs, cheese, and coffe creamer) on the long hauls so we didn't have to keep opening the bigger cooler.

Default New transmission pan style

Anyone see / install this yet? I am ready for this service and have been putting it off due to the previous install procedure for the integrated pan / filter combo.
