buying a LR3
I have owned a discovery 2 previously and now am looking into a LR3. Looking for some insight from current owners.
From my understanding the common issues are:
1. Control arm bushings (check for tire wear)
2. Air compressor
3. brake switch
4. Sunroof drains
My biggest concern is the transmission though and haven't found much on this. do these units completely fail rarely or are they a common issue? I'm aware of the need to change the fluid the second i purchase the truck.

There haven't been a ton of tranny failures reported here at least...or other forums, over the last 10 years. There can be leaking from the mechatronics sleeve (I think I got that right) but other than that they seem good. Add differentials to your list, especially on an earlier model year. Drive it and listen for any groaning, and change the fluid when you buy it.
Clogged leaking sunroof on lr3 soaks floor shorting wire harness disabling vehicles , d2 vs lr3 isn't even apples and oranges like rock and orange they are so dissimilar the only thing they share is the green oval
Leaking mechatronic sleeve is the only common transmission problem. Oh, and the california stop hard shift. The first is somewhat difficult to fix the second is just a software update from GAP
