Default A/C Compressor Clutch Bearing Replacement

I believe that my AC clutch bearing is the culprit making all the racket when the ac turns on. When its on ECON, no noise. Only when load is applied.
Anyone tackled this yet?
My main question is if the ac needs to be removed or can this be done with it on the engine?
Any help will be greatfully accepted.
2005 LR3.
Thank you,

No...but my CC whines like a mule. I don't think it's really worth addressing.

There is no clutch on this compressor.

Generally the failure is with the bushings for the sheer plate. It is a direct drive, continuously engaged, variable displacement unit. I have not tried to overhaul one, and I don't know of a kit to do so.

Thank you for that. After much research I came to the same conclusion. And to back that up, I went to my indy shop, and they diagnosed the noise to be my ac expansion valve. Its either sticky, stuck, blocked, or just freakining broken.
Now for the fun of finding this thing. From the diagrams it looks like its buried deep behind the dash just right of center.
If anyone has any experience on how to get to it, I would greatly appreciate any guidance.
Cheers,
