Took the Landie to my local shop and had them checked and recharge my A/C as I was experiencing the low whine when the compressor was engaged. Turns out the system charge was good, slightly above spec but when they recharged the system they put new oil in and it took the whine away. So, either the system was recharged without adding any oil by the PO or just the oil evaporated from the system... probably the former. So, if anyone is hearing that low growl/whine when the clomate control is on with low fan and it goes away when you press the ECON botton, get your shop to check your system for low refridgerant and add more oil .
