Ah ok, I swapped the bulbs from the old OEM assembly into the HID one (minus the main beams ofc) - I think the turn signals arent the issue as they work when put back in to OEM assembly, but some of the positioning lamps are burned out. Im going to test with new (W5W) ones to try to remove variables.

Related question: I see a number of companies selling HID conversion kits for LR3s, I cant tell if thats what I might need or if they are even compatible with the HID lens assemblies, any suggestions?

As you already have HID (high intensity discharge) lights you don’t need a conversion kit. If your xenons would get old, all you’d need is new D2S type units.

The conversion kits are meant for people with halogens. They’re also usually not road legal although this will depend on the jurisdiction etc. The halogen beam pattern is different from the xenons and the result from the conversion kits can be (tends to be) that they dazzle others.

Figured it out --- there was a broken pin in one of the plugs of the new HID. The bad bulbs slowed down my fault tracing but tested by swapping in bulbs and the other side worked! Very satisfying, now will deal with ebay seller to get a swap or try to change out the socket (I havent been able to remove it yet). Thanks again for your help!

And thanks to another thread and the power of Pagerank, I found that the pins are often just pushed in, not broken. Some pushing from behind the bracket and shes fixed. Now to wait for the new DS2... The LR community is just amazing, I'd be lost without it.
