Default Check Engine Light ON

New to Land Rover, 5 days and 400 miles, I'm struck by reality; Land Rover reliability: worst than average - as per Consummer Reports.

Now I have the Check Engine Linght On, constantly. Besides a trip to the dealer (100 miles away), is this usual? The manual says that must be an emissions problem. Anyone with the same problem?

Did I choosed wisely by selecting the LR3 over the Acura MDX?
