Default Coolant level low warning but disabled in CCF?

I got a coolant level low warning on my instrument cluster today. I inspected the level in the expansion tank and it was fine. I've read about issues on here where the sensor float can fail so I wasn't too concerned about it and decided to disable the warning in the CCF using my IID Tool. I was surprised to discover that the Coolant level low warning was already disabled. So, regardless of the state of my coolant or the sensor, how is it possible that I am getting this warning?

I would suggest activating the feature... detecting loss of coolant is as critical as loss of engine oil. There are many, many testimonials onlione of peoples plastic bleeder valve letting go, to the thermostat housing cracking and spilling or even the hoses failing as our trucks start getting to the age when the rubber hoses can potentially fail.

Free protection and a level of insurance you'll wish you had when it's too late...

I agree and, had I known that it had been turned off previously, apparently a pretty standard response by Land Rover at one point, I would have turned it back on for the warning. I was planning to turn it off until I could replace the tank and then turn it back on.

Why would I do that? When driving with an information message showing the i> on the instrument cluster display there is no way of knowing if there is a single information message to view or multiple messages. Other cars I've owned would automatically display the information messages in seguence repeatedly (Door ajar, Trunk open, Door ajar, Trunk open, ...) until you stopped the scroll by pressing a button. Land Rover makes you repeatedly press a button until you view all messages. Really not a great user interface so all I wanted to do was get the i> off of the display so I could drive and know at a glance that there were no issues I didn't already know about.

None of that addresses the problem at hand, however. With the feature turned off, the instrument cluster is still providing the warning when it should not be capable of doing so. This makes me wonder if I have a problem with my instrument cluster.

Has anyone else ever seen this behavior and what are the implications?

Someone had posted about the problem Land Rover had regarding the coolant sensor issue and that they possibly bypassed the old signalling system as a possible solution. It would seem that was the case by your experience... even though the system was disabled in the bus system, it still operates. Too bad they didn't re-route more things off the bus system...lol

Was just discussed in another thread recently, but the setting in the CCF actually has nothing to do with your coolant sensor warning. It seems to be disabled in the CCF by default for everybody, but yet we still get low coolant warnings. It might just be the product of something that was leftover or something that had a future use. Regardless, that CCF setting isn't connected to anything.

Thanks! I tried searching for threads regarding this specific behavior and I missed that thread somehow. Knowing this makes me feel a lot better.
