Default Coolant Tank issues

A while back the coolant tank sensor kept telling me that the coolant level was too low. Despite me topping up every day - the same thing kept occurring. The 'garage' which is a pseudonym for A Collection of Filipino care workers standing around with spanners in their hand, ultimately decided that the sensor was broken. So to replace the sensor i needed to also replace the coolant tank - which i did.

However since then, the same problem has occurred albeit i think it has. I fill up the coolant tank in the morning and by the time i get to work (10 min drive) the tank is empty. I've had the car on a ramp to look from underneath and there does not appear to be any leak. That is, the water has not drained on my head. Further, when i get to work and i pop the bonnet, the tank is empty. I then take the cap off, release the air and suddenly the water comes back, from the radiator presumably.

So with this in mind i thought perhaps it was an air lock, so i unscrewed the release button and removed the cap time and again over the next 2 weeks. Same problem exists - Water goes in, engine goes on, water disappears, cap is removed, water comes back.

I am reluctant to take it back to the spanner wielding 'care workers' so i now ask you if you can help.

Much appreciated if you can.

SK

Do you smell anything on the inside? Check the heater core. Also if it is the 7 seat version, check the rear lines under the vehicle.
