Cooler box and driver seat coil - fix myself?
Got an 05 LR3 with two issues. Neither is crucial so I thought they might be good candidates for a weekend repair.
First, cooler box is not cooling. Mechanic says replace the box because "resistor is fully open." Anyone know what that means? Can I fix that myself or is it some kind of complex deal that involves special tools? Is it really just a replace deal or are there parts that I could swap? The box itself is $350.
Same issue with seat heater. Works on all but driver side. Mechanic says it's the coil. Is that something I can fix myself?
Thanks

if you need a cooler box, there is a wrecking yard in the LA Area, Elite. They have several LR3s with Cooler Boxes. Probably pick one up for $50. Call Rick 818 767-0445 (no affiliation). good guys. Phil
Did you check the fuse for the cooler?
Heated seats are similar on different brands, but still same concept, basicly there is a web of thin wiring under the seat covering on top of the padding, this can get broken over time
Some vehicles the heated "pad" is removable some are part of the seat cover , no idea on rovers
Unless you have a bad button, relay or fuse or harness is cut, I have 2 vehicles now with dead heaters, both shorted in the seat
