Wouldn't that set a more permanent fault, icon or have physical symptoms? There wasn't even a fault stored.

Wonder if the shifter itself is dying, or if a little bit of something got spilled on it and made a momentary short.

It did not store a code for me when I had the issue. Not sure why.

Maybe it just didn't "sit' right in Reverse that time? It sure doesn't happen on the regular....or maybe ever before. There is no way anything spilled on it. I don't eat or drink in that vehicle.

Dakota, is this something that lubricating the linkage (as you've mentioned in other threads) could help with?

Yup. Fixed my issue, I did not even install the shift linkage kit I bought because lubrication fixed it. I lube it once a year or about now with silicone spray.

Thanks....I might just replace the whole thing; it's cheap kit.

My 2005 pops out of 1 when using Command Shift. I downshift from 2 to 1, and it pops back into 2. It did that ever since the CA Stop issue was fixed. I always figured it was a by-product of the new algorithm.
My 2006 will sometimes just not go into 1 from 2.It just stays in 2.

I'm hoping that new linkages on both LR3s will remedy this, too!

Where in the linkage do you lubricate?

Houm_wa any updates on yours? I seem to be experiencing a similar problem, same fault message, but I’m getting communication codes and shift lockout.

At the visible linkage at the trans. For US models, that would be passenger side of trans towards the middle/front area. Heat shield may block view a bit.

I had mine replaced and it didn't make a difference in the behavior I was experiencing, so it must have been something else. Oh well, the parts were so cheap I figured it was worth a shot.
